cast away- round 4

And maybe the last of the initial casts???? The dr. is so pleased with how well his feet are responding. He mentioned that next week we may be doing the tenotomy (heel cord release). Although I am not looking forward to that procedure, I am looking forward to the fact that we are almost finished with casts. :)

Snapshot Saturday!

Thursday we headed down to see the surgeon who performed Carson's hernia repair. I have been concerned lately because it appears that his hernia has returned. Well Dr. Anselmo decided to take a peek and do some pushing around. Carson decided this would be the perfect opportunity to show that his bladder worked. :) Yep, he got the dr. right in the face. After we had our laugh, Dr. Anselmo felt pretty confident that it wasnt a reoccuring hernia but most likely a bladder issue. This meant some more tests. So, Friday, Carson and I headed out for an entire afternoon of imaging.... shoo- wee..... From this not much was learned other than Carson was not a fan of ultrasounds or x-rays. We will have to wait for the follow-ups with the Urologist to know what is going on. The x-ray tech did mention a concern to me: he was confused and had a difficult time finding Carson's bladder. He said, "If that is his bladder, it is not located correctly." That was it---- grrr, ?????????? Now--- we wait and see. :)

Just please continue to keep Carson in your prayers. What a joy and a blessing he is.

I learned how to post videos!!!!! So I will give you a day or so to prepare yourself for the cuteness that is to come. :) Love from our barn.

Cast away- round 3

Well we just returned back home from another trip to our favorite :) ortho. Dr. King. I placed a smile there because this dr. is one of the funniest men I have ever met. Let me explain- He is, I kid you not, a very very old man. I'm guessing 80. He has the squeakiest male voice and he likes to use it loudly (maybe because his hearing is gone) But he yells, and he has no patience. A visit to him always leaves us laughing. One of these days I will post a picture for you to see him. Anyway, aside from that Dr. King is very pleased with how well Carson's feet are responding to the casting. To quote him, "Looks good, mom." This new set is very intense--- in fact, Carson's Right foot is completely twisted backwards (ouch!) He's doing great though. We also received our Ilfeld brace- this is to keep Carson's hip in place to help correct his dysplasia. Yikes, is it going to fun getting used to.

Aside from that, We decided to take a detour through the mountains, and are very glad that we did, because sometimes you need to just stop....

"O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches."  Psalm 104:24

Please continue to keep us in your prayers--- I have noticed recently that Carson is having some pipes trouble, and I am having trouble with the scheduling dept. at the hospital.

cast away- round 2

                                                  Get my casts off!!! ---- I feel good!

                                                      What??? put them back on???

Oh well-- Won't slow me down.

Tuesday morning began with a bath for Carson!!! I was so scared about the process of removing the casts, the dr. told me it would take at least an hour of soaking him in hot water and vinegar. Well since I do not like vinegar and Carson does not like baths I was very worried it would be a bad experience. Praise the Lord! It was so easy, I used no vinegar and the casts came right off, and Carson enjoyed his time in the tub! It was so nice to have him castless, but the joy was short lived--- that afternoon he was back in another set. The dr. was pleased with how well the first set took and this next round is more intense, in fact has Carson's feet twisted outward--- odd. I'm just trusting this man (this very old, very old, and very odd man) to know what he is doing. Next week the casts will also include a brace to keep Carson in the frog position in order to help his hip stay in place.  That is going to be interesting for sure. :)

Happy Easter!!

Because He Lives
1. God sent His Son - they called Him Jesus,
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Chorus:
Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

2. How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because Christ lives.

 I remember hearing this song just before I delivered... what a incredible blessing it was then, and today. Christ does live!!! Through him, I have salvation, and I have hope--- He is a risen Saviour.

Although, to me things are so unknown, uncontrollable, and overwhelming, Christ has promised me that he cares.  According to this verse ( one of my favorites) it is me simply humbling myself to trust Him.
1Peter 5:6-7  "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. "

 There is no better time to consider His love and his care for me than Easter, what an incredible sacrifice God made for me. What an incredible God I have!!!  I hope that you had a wonderful Easter, and I hope more that we all remember his power and his love for us.
